Do you actually need a personal brand?

A short test for deciding whether building your name is worth the effort right now.

Everyone already has a personal brand. The question is whether it is working for you or quietly working against you.

The short test

Ask yourself three questions:

  1. Do the people you want to work with know what you are known for?
  2. Could someone describe your point of view in one sentence?
  3. When opportunities come up, does your name come up with them?

If you answered no to two or more, the work is probably worth it.

Where to start

Start small. Pick one platform, one idea and one rhythm you can keep for twelve weeks. Consistency beats volume every time.

Your reputation is the sum of the rooms you are talked about in when you are not there.

What we would do first

We would run an audit of how you show up today, find the gap between that and where you want to be known, and close it one decision at a time.
